Davis & Elkins College
The historic district of Davis & Elkins College includes seven buildings dating from the late 1800s. Graceland Mansion, built by Henry Gassaway Davis as his summer residence in 1893, was occupied by two generations of the Davis family. Halliehurst Hall, completed in 1890, was built by Stephen Elkins and named after his wife, the former Hallie Davis. The 1890 Gate House standing at the entrance of the Davis & Elkins campus, the Ice House, Albert Hall and the Boiler House Theater, round out the district.
