Hadden Fort
This was a strong fort on the point of high ground on the west side of Tygart's Valley River, at the mouth of Elkwater Creek, in Huttonsville District, Randolph County. There were three Hadden homes which could have served as refuges or settlers in the upper end of the Valley of Randolph County. This fort was built in 1774 at the mouth of Elkwater on Route 219 south, near Cheat Bridge. There is a marker erected by the Historical Society to mark where the fort was.
