Settled in 1753, Beverly is one of the oldest and best preserved towns in West Virginia. The historic district is a collection of 45 historic sites primarily built in six different architectural styles. Many buildings date from the late 1700s. Beverly’s location at the intersection of the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike and the Beverly-Fairmont Pike made it the commercial center of Randolph County until Elkins became the county seat in 1890.
