Explore the camp constructed by Confederate forces in 1861 to control the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike. It was occupied by troops and soldiers moving up the mountain from Camp Bartow until December 1861, when the harsh mountain winter set in.

Directions:
Go South-West from Elkins on US-219 [S Randolph Ave] for 17.9 miles
Bear RIGHT (South) onto US-250 [SR-92] for 21.9 miles
At near Bartow, bear LEFT (East) onto Old Pike Rd [CR-3] for 7.5 miles to Top of Allegheny.
