Catch this Backway at the west end of Durbin and follow the switchbacks up the mountain. You’ll be paralleling the Staunton Parkersburg Turnpike up the east side of Cheat Mountain which was used until the 1950s, until the more direct US Route 250 roadway used today was built.

Directions:
Depart (South-West) from Elkins on US-219 [S Randolph Ave] for 12.0 miles
Turn RIGHT (West) onto US-219 [US-250] for 5.9 miles
Bear RIGHT (South) onto US-250 [SR-92] for 17.9 miles
Near Olive, turn RIGHT [West] on CR-250 [Grant Van Devender Rd] (West) for 1.0 mile
Turn RIGHT (North) onto CR-1 [Back Mountain Rd] for 142 yards
At near Durbin, stay on CR-1 [Back Mountain Rd] (North-West) for 1.2 miles
