Davis and Elkins College

Davis and Elkins College plays a vital role in the cultural enrichment of Randolph County and offers 33 four-year and 14 two year majors. Since its founding in 1904, this private liberal arts institution has shared a common heritage and a proud sense of tradition with the community.

The setting for Davis and Elkins College is rural, and the atmosphere friendly. The community is served by a modern hospital, numerous churches, motels and restaurants; two shopping centers and a 7 screen cinema. Davis and Elkins College is also located in the center of a major outdoor recreation area which offers many activities. The college is within a day’s drive of most metropolitan areas of the East, South and Midwest.

The College campus consists of 20 major buildings and reflects it's heritage in two historic mansions—Halliehurst and Graceland. Halliehurst has undergone nearly a decade of renovation to restore it’s turn-of-the-century interior and has become a popular historical attraction for visitors to the area. In 1996 Graceland was restored to it’s original splendor, it is now open to the public as Graceland Inn and Conference Center.

The modem campus facilities on the 170-acre campus provide- over 600 students and community with advantages usually associated with metropolitan life. An arts center/auditorium complex is used extensively by both college theatre groups and the Randolph County Creative Acts Council.

A new $7 million library opened in 1992.
